It's been over a month and I haven't blogged which makes me feel like a really bad person!
I can't believe it's been this long! My last post was my September favourites, I really wish I had blogged through October because it's one of my favourite times of the year especially with Halloween and the leaves changing colour.
Here comes the flood of excuses as to why I didn't blog during October:
1. This is an actual valid excuse, but I have been just so stressed with school lately and it's all just been piling on
2. My laptop is not really working and is on the verge of dying forever haha
3. I just was not motivated to blog.. that simple!
I really wanted to blog this month, if not more than any other time because I had tutorials planned out and I didn't take any pictures of them and I know people hate to just read a long passage explaining something without knowing what I'm doing.

This month was really good for me outside of school and blogging though! Well the last week or so anyway, the town where I go to school holds a festival every year for a long time now and it's really great, there are competitions, stalls and family orientated things during the day while night time is when teens and adults (Ok mostly teens) can go out and properly have fun. The dome is where there is a big club that's right beside my school and the lake however it is over 18's so I wasn't there this year but next year I will definitely be there! As you walk towards the dome however, there are a very small amount of amusements that are actually really good craic. Again, it would have been nice to blog that whole experience however my camera would not charge for me so I wasn't able to take any pictures at all over the mid-term.
I also had my friends birthday party, she had a bonfire and we all sang happy birthday at 4 am.
Lastly, is the Halloween party I had in my Nana's house that I think we're all still recovering from!

That's all for now, I promise to get back into blogging again and I have a small haul for next week! So stay tuned!

September Favourites!

Hello Spudlings!

September is officially over and we're getting closer to Halloween every day! Also, one whole month of school is over so we all have 2 good reasons to be happy and celebrate!

 (Ohher fancily edited photo)

Makeup & Beauty

I have extremely chapped lips and I've tried all sorts of things to try to make it not look like the Himalayas on my lips! I recently discovered this lip tint my Rimmel London (I know, kind of a Rimmel obsession, I'm not even sorry!). It's called Lasting Finish 1000 Kisses and the colour is 600 Carry on Cherry. I really like the colour of it, I sometimes think that red lipstick is too much, especially on me, it doesn't particularly suit me so this is a really subtle way of wearing red on your lips (Can it even be subtle? haha) I also really like that there is a clear lip balm/moisturiser at the bottom so your lips don't look dry and you can't really tell that they're not as soft as you would like. It's a very berry red shade which is perfect for the time of year right now, I love it! I have been wearing it with a very sheer layer of my Bourjois pink lipstick in 11 Fraise Remix, which is a kind of dark, magenta pink, this is just to make it slightly more pinky and moisturised.

Something that I struggle with, being a teenager, is that I have combination skin plus pimples, so for me I need a foundation with good coverage, that won't dry my skin but won't be too shiny. I think I have found that foundation; it's the new Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation. It is literally so amazing, it has a really nice texture and consistency that's not quite as thick as a jar of mousse foundation and it's not as runny as a liquid foundation. It is really amazing at combating grease, although my skin gets extremely greasy through the day so I do get a tiny bit of grease but I just need to brush a small bit of powder over my T-zone and it's perfectly fine. I have the shade 100 Ivory, which I think is the second lightest shade, but I may have to buy the lighter shade to see if it matches my skin better because my skin has reverted back to pale because of the lack of warm weather! I've never been extremely pale though so I may have to mix the two shades together.

I don't often buy eyeshadows because on a daily basis I just stick to brown and cream coloured eyeshadows but since it's now autumn and darker colours are in, I went to a Pharmacy in my town and picked up an essence eyeshadow quad that I've been wondering about for a while. It's called 12 Purple Day and it doesn't specify any colours on it. There's two matte shades, dark purple and purple-pink colour and there's two shimmery shades, a creamy kind of gold and a shimmery taupe brown that is kind of metallic. Lately I have been applying just the brown over my whole lids and blending it out, and when you look in the mirror, you notice the gold shimmer in the middle of your lids (where the light hits) which I think is absolutely stunning! If you follow me on instagram (@ilikespuds1) you have probably seen me use all 4 eyeshadows together and I absolutely love how the purple's make my eyes pop, because I have bright blue eyes and purple compliments blue and sometimes green eyes! I used the darker purple on the outer corner of my lids, the lighter pinky-purple on the inside of my lids, I then used the brown in my crease and to blend it out and I used the lightest shade as an inner corner highlight and a brow highlight.

The last beauty product I've really been loving for September was actually mentioned in my last Favourites post (here) and it's the Batiste Dry shampoo in Tropical. Since school has started back, it's obviously taken up a lot of time and I don't like washing my hair too often as it can actually be damaging to your hair, so dry shampoo has been a savior! I often find myself sitting in class wondering "what's that lovely smell" as I forget about how nice the scent is. I;m sure everybody knows how a dry shampoo works, but I do need to stress that you need to hold it quite a distance away from your hair and then run your fingers through it so you don't look like you're going grey!

Random

My first random favourite, is something I've literally been OBSESSED with all month! I recently tried Reece's Peanut Butter Cups for the first time and I fell in love! I don't usually like peanut butter but these are so amazing and I can sense an unhealthy obsession beginning!
I've been liking this next favourite for a couple months now but recently I've been into it a lot. This favourite is a singer off Youtube called Charity Vance. Charity is absolutely stunning and has the voice to match! If you haven't heard of her yet, I highly recommend you go and check her out, her songs are extremely cute and feel good and I just really love listening to her songs all the time!

That's all my favourites from the month of September, hope you enjoyed!
Did you try any of the procudts I've mentioned? What do you think of them? Did this make you want to go out and buy something? Let me know! x

Blog Update!

Hello Spudlings!

So I don't know if anybody has noticed or not, but I haven't been posting as often as I normally would (or would like to) and it's really just down to school. I'm in my very last year in secondary school (6th year) and its really important because I'm going to be sitting my Leaving Certificate exams in June. These are probably THE most important exams you can take in Ireland as they determine what colleges you can go to etc.
Because this year is so important, I've been getting a lot of homework, tests and then I've had to study, so you can understand why its difficult for me to write blog posts. I do try to write them as often as I can so I can get about 3 per week.
I just wanted you guys to know that I'm not neglecting this blog in any way, I'm just super busy!
I do try write them on the weekends and have them prepared for the week but I could be busy over the weekend or just relaxing and preparing myself for school again on Monday!

That's it for now!

Midweek Purchases.

Hello Spudlings!

In my Secondary school, we get a half day every Wednesday. I don't live in the same town where I go to school so this gives me an hour or to before I'm collected, to have a ponder about the shops in the town that I do go to school.
About 2 weeks ago or so, a Vintage/Craft shop was opened up. I was over the moon when I saw it one morning on my way to school so I made it my point to pop in on Wednesday.
In there I bought an adorable little candle inside a tiny bathtub, I thought it was adorable and the candle is a really pretty lilac colour and it was only €1.50. I also bought a body lotion in there, and there is no particular brand for this but it's Gingerbread Cookie scented which I couldn't refuse!
I then went into one of 3 pharmacy's/drugstores in this town and picked up a Rimmel London nail polish from the "I love Lasting Finish" collection and it's just 080 Black Cab. I also saw the new Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation by Rimmel London also and I thought I would get it to see how it worked, it was €5.99 (€2 was taken off the price; Normally €7.99)
I then went into another Pharmacy and picked up another Rimmel London product which was the 1000 Kisses lip tint in 600 Carry on Cherry.
After that I went to meet my mam in the shopping center and picked up a packet of Reece's Pieces because I've never tried them before and I was feeling adventurous!

How To Style ○ Platform Boots

Hello Spudlings!

(Image from my Polyvore; here)

It is Officially Autumn! I am so excited, Autumn is by far my Favourite Season! (Closely followed by Winter haha)

I think that Platform boots are really cute, especially for Autumn/Winter, but it all depends on the style (for me anyway!). I really like how these ones are really simple but add some edge to an otherwise ordinary outfit! They are supposed to be a really comfortable shoe to wear and since these particular ones are black, they would go with most clothes.
I saw these Jeans and knew I had to add them. Firstly; I really like the colour of them, they are "blue jeans" but quite muted and I really like the animal print pattern on them as it adds some definition. Secondly; I love the style of turned up jeans, I think it's really cute and I think it's nice to show some ankle haha
Next is the striped b/w top. I really think that stripes are a big thing this season (Monochrome being a big trend this year) and I personally have been kind of liking it a lot! Again, it adds a bit of depth to the outfit and I also really like the cut of a boyfriend tee!
Because the weather here is getting colder, you're obviously going to want to be warm, so I added this really pretty Ox-Blood, long cardigan. I LOVE the colour of this and I really like the shape of the cardigan, how it's a bit longer and it seems to be quite thick which I think is always great.
I then went ahead and added a beanie (Anybody spot a pattern? haha) because beanies are essential this time of year!
Instead of adding a schoolbag, like I was going to do, I added this cute purse that says "Hands Off". I think it's a really smart concept since nobody wants other people to go through their bag/purse and it goes well with the outfit.
In the theme of keeping warm, I added a beige snood. I definitely need to pick myself up a snood this year because they are so big and cosy looking! I picked a beige one to keep the look from being too dark or pale and dull.
I just realised that I added two pairs of earrings but I think that both go well with the outfit. For the Gold, triangle earrings with chevrons on them, I would add some gold jewelery to make the outfit look warmer in colour. Maybe a chunky chain necklace. The Smiley earrings, I really like and I wouldn't opt for too much more jewelery than the earrings, maybe some braided bracelets and I would leave it at that.
As per, I added an iPhone case and I added this because the colours go well with the outfit and I think it's an adorable and funny little case to have.
As for makeup, I think that a slightly darker, natural look would be perfect with this outfit, I would probably try fit in the army green and a medium to dark brown shade of eyeshadow over the lid.
I just added a Rimmel London Mascara (Scandaleyes Retro Glam to be specific!).
Last but not least, I added a simple, black Butter London nail polish to tie it all together!

My Everyday Makeup/Whats in my Makeup Bag.

Hello Spudlings!
So I thought that It would be a good idea to show you guys what I do for my everyday makeup and what I keep in my makeup bag on a daily basis. I would usually wear this to school but I haven't been wearing any makeup to school lately, but I do still use this quite often!
Before I do anything I apply and eye gel by Virgin Cosmetics. you take about a half pea sized amount on your finger and dab it all around your eye area. It wakes them up, refreshes them, makes them feel de-puffed, rehydrated and helps to wake them up. Then I moisturise my face with a Simple moisturiser, I scrub my lips with my Lush bubblegum lip scrub and then moisturise my lips with Vaseline/lip balm.
After that I apply my Rimmel Wake me Up foundation (103 True Ivory) with my fingers (I know, sorry but I haven't got any foundation brushes!). I use an essence concealer called "Match 2 Cover", it's a cream concealer, there is a darker shade and a lighter shade. I use the darker one to conceal any blemishes I have like spots or redness and the lighter one for under my eyes and a bit on the lids. For blush I actually use an essence lipstick pencil (in 02 but I don't think they're available anymore as they were from the "Cherry Blossom" collection) because I didn't like how it looked on my lips, and I just blend it out with a blush brush. I then apply my Collection Lasting Perfection ultimate wear powder (in 2 Medium) with a small kabuki brush. Once that's all done, I then apply my St. Tropez matte Powder Bronzer to the hollows of my cheeks, my temples and my jawline. Then On the sides of my neck to make it look slightly slimmer. There is no specific colour/number on this and I'm pretty sure my aunt gave it to me a few years ago when I wasn't into makeup so I don't think it's available anymore.
That's my face done and so I will normally move onto my eyes. Before I apply makeup there, I use my essence eye base and just blend it all over my lid and under eye area or anywhere else that I'm going to apply eye makeup.
So I will normally use an old Catrice double eyeshadow palette called 19 Hot Chocolate. It comes with 2 very shimmery eyeshadows, one is a cream colour and the other is a taupe brown. Normally the cream will go on my lids and inner corners and the brown is used in my crease, outer corners and under my lower lash line. If I don't do that, then I'll just apply the cream eyeshadow and blend it out slightly and just use the winged out liner. I don't always anymore, but I would often use gel/liquid eyeliner winged out a but but not over the top. I don't use gel much anymore but I normally would use the essence black gel liner with the essence gel liner brush, but now I will use essence liquid ink black eyeliner.
For Mascara you should know that I have been using the Maybelline The Colossal Volum' Express Waterproof mascara on my top and bottom lashes. I don't always do my eyebrows, when I do I will use my essence eyebrow pencil in 03 Blonde, it comes with a handy brow brush and I will usually use a light, matte brown eyeshadow to lock it all in and make it look more natural, then just brush it out!
After all of that is finished, all that's left to do is lips and I don't have a set lipstick that I use everyday and most of the time I just leave them natural and just use a tinted lip balm/Vaseline.
That's it for my everyday makeup look!

Review: Maybelline The Colossal Volum' Express Waterproof Mascara

Hello Spudlings!

In my August favourites post, I said that I would review all of the products that I mentioned.
So I bought the waterproof version of this mascara because I think it's better to have than a non-waterproof mascara. My eyes tend to water a lot and become irritated quite easily so any eye makeup I can find that's waterproof is instantly a must have!
I picked this up in boots for €9.99 and you can buy them online here.

(Top: My eyelashes, Bottom: One coat of Maybelline The Colossal Volum' Express Mascara in Waterproof)

As you can see, the mascara does make a difference. It's a bit of a hit and miss for me, because it's an alright mascara and I'm going to continue using it until it's gone but it can look quite spidery and the lashes tend to stick together, even though on the back of the bottle it says that there should be no clumping. I do agree with the fact that it does give some amazing volume to my lashes and I'll give them that but it's too fake looking. Also since It's September now, I'm officially back in school (6th year) and even if I'm not wearing makeup to school, I will always apply some mascara and throughout the day I find that, sometimes, if I apply this to my bottom lashes, I'm left with black smudges under my eye. One of my biggest pet peeves is when eye makeup, especially mascara and eyeliner, move down my face. It makes you look like you don't know how to apply makeup properly, like you're tired/have bags under your eyes and it makes you feel conscious that everybody will notice.
After all that, I will NOT be buying this mascara again, however I will continue to buy Maybelline Mascaras because they're supposed to be some of the best, especially for drugstore/pharmacy brands.
